The LBT Team has been busy in 2014. Leading the gang is coach Lisa Bentley with a win in the Orlando ½ marathon on March 1st in 1:18:31 – a nice improvement over her 1:22 and 2nd place at the Disney Half Marathon in January. A neat statistic from these events was that women outnumbered men in each race with over 11220 women in the Disney ½ Marathon versus 9064 men and 544 women in the Orlando ½ versus 300 men.
Meanwhile, back in Ontario, LBT athletes Rob Bruce, Connie Torchetti, Liz Hamilton and Mark Fullerton ran great races in the Chili Half Marathon. Just starting and finishing on that day was an accomplishment with temperatures close to -30 degrees Celsius with the wind chill! That was a great prep race for both Rob and Connie en route to their upcoming starts in the Boston Marathon and Liz at 30k Around the Bay
And then back in Florida, Leigh Wingfield was tearing through the field at the Clermont Challenge Triathlon. Third out of the swim and staying toward the front for most of the 20 km ride, Leigh finished 4th by a few seconds and was the top man over 25 years old!! All of this in spite of losing a few minutes when he stopped on the bike to check on a competitor who crashed in front of him. Proud of you Leigh!
Next up for the team is the Sarasota ½ Marathon for Rob Wight, Clermont Triathlon for Denise and Ivan, Jordan 5k for Lindy, Ironman70.3 Florida for Doug and Leigh and the Boston Marathon for Lisa, Rob Bruce, Connie, and Ivan. Meanwhile, Lisa and Dave are busy coaching a series of training camps in Clermont until mid-April.
