Another great year is behind us – it is almost time to say goodbye to 2010 and move forward to 2011. For the first time in 20 years, I did not do a race this year! I missed the adrenalin rush and I missed being super fit but for the first time in 20 years, it was nice to have other priorities – our new puppy, my dad’s recovery from heart surgery and the races of our LBT athletes!

Every day there is some new challenge – for 20 years, that challenge was getting through workouts and refining my skills and pushing my fitness to new levels. The challenges now are different – being the best coach I can be, researching athletes for Ironman Live and CBC Sports, being part of Ironman growth in Canada, writing the first chapter of my book, squeezing in training everyday for my mind, body and spirit – but the theme of the challenges are the same – to finish what I start and to do everything with heart and passion. The passion I had as an athlete is now directed to other interests and while I have gotten slower as a runner, biker and swimmer, I am just as passionate but now I share it with other athletes I get to coach!
